Pixels are the microscopic squares that capture different amounts of lights when a picture is taken and make up the picture. The pixel value is the amount of light a pixel has captured. Pixel values towards the minimum (Min.) would be darker, and pixel values towards the maximum (Max.) would be lighter. The picture below is a full moon and I put the color table in spectrum. I will compare it to the original photo and tell you what each color would mean, whether they are closer to the minimum or maximum.
